Abraham zeroed in on the jaw-dropping fees some stylists demand, declaring, “I still cannot fathom that a stylist charges Rs. 2 lakh a day for an actor, and that cost comes on the producer, adding fuel to already existing exorbitant costs.” He argued that these charges are symptomatic of a broader issue, stating, “We are suffering as an industry because of the ridiculous entourage costs and the lack of cost correction that needs to happen so that the producer can spend more money enhancing the quality of the content.” For Abraham, who’s known for keeping his own team razor-thin, this extravagance is a major roadblock to better filmmaking.
He didn’t spare actors either, delivering a sharp rebuke: “You can’t be so daft as an actor to not understand what your fee does to a film, how it impacts the ecosystem; either you are genuinely daft or you are pretending to be daft.” Abraham’s frustration stems from seeing how inflated salaries and entourages – sometimes 10 to 15 people strong – jack up budgets, leaving less for the actual movie. He contrasted this with his own approach, revealing, “I keep an entourage of two people at times because I come from a school of thought that believes in keeping it precise rather than wasting money on frivolous things.”
