Late Bollywood actor Irrfan Khan’s son Babil Khan made his much-awaited debut with Triptii Dimri starrer Qala (2022). He has made a name for himself in the industry with his ‘gentlemanly personality’ and views on feminism. However, he has also faced his fair share of trolling because of it. Now, during an interaction with Indian Express’ SCREEN, he has opened up about the same and even called out the hypocrisy of Bollywood actors. Commenting on the paparazzi culture, he also shed light on how he dealt with trolling and his will to embrace his vulnerability.
Addressing getting trolled for the kindness and affection with which he treated the paparazzi, he called out the industry’s hypocrisy. He said, “The people who trolled me for giving chocolates to paps are the same ones now doing it themselves.” He pointed out now they are often spotted “giving chocolates and gifts” to the paps. “I wonder, ‘Bhai, tumne hi mera mazak udaya tha aur ab tum hi sab kar rahe ho.’ I fail to understand these people. It’s a hypocritical industry,” he said. He mentioned that all of them are just “trying to survive.”

Opening up about how his perspective has evolved, he revealed that he had once passed judgements on others. However now he views them with more empathy and compassion as he has also experienced “the anxiety, pressure, and fear myself,” all the emotions actors are told to “suppress.” He adds, “Everyone’s just trying to survive, and it’s really painful.”
Khan goes on to add that he refuses to tone down his emotional nature, just so he could fit in with his fears. Quoted by the media publication, he added, “I live life with full emotions. I cry, I feel the hate, I respond to it—and I still live. I’m a shy person, but I don’t shy away from living my truth.”

The 26-year-old actor went on to admit that he hasn’t yet fully adapted to the inner workings of Bollywood. “I’m not used to the industry. I’m not thick-skinned—I feel too much. But I love the people in it. They know how to protect themselves, and that’s something I really admire and want to learn,” he said.
On the work front, Babil Khan is currently being seen in his thriller film Logout. Premiered on Zee5 on April 18, 2025.
