Well, Punjabi actor and musician Diljit Dosanjh has opened up a can of worms after releasing the trailer of his much anticipated movie Sardaar Ji 3. Hours after sharing the trailer on his social media handles on Sunday, netizens took to the internet and called him out for working with Pakistani actress Hania Aamir in the light of the horrific Pahalgam terror attack and Operation Sindoor. Amidst call for his boycott by the netizens, President of the Indian Film and Television Directors’ Association is sharing the same sentiments.
Opening up about the matter, during a conversation with Hindustan Times, Ashoke Pandit explained that they have written a letter to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) about the situation. He revealed that they have refused to give the film a certificate. He went on to add, “I had seen Hania’s tweets as well during the time of Operation Sindoor. We are going to take action and tell the producers to not work with him (Diljit). He should be fully boycotted in the country by music labels and Punjabi film industry. Diljit is a compulsive Pakistani lover.”

According to a report by the Free Press Journal, Sardaar Ji 3 was shot before the Pahalgam attack. The report adds that Diljit’s film will not get a theatrical release in India, instead, it will be released internationally on June 27. The decision was reportedly taken to avoid regulatory and public backlash. Free Press Journal adds that while the teaser and songs from Sardaar Ji 3 are still accessible to the Indian audience, the trailer has been geo-restricted on YouTube, due to Hania’s visibility in it.
Talking about Operation Sindoor, during the wee hours of Wednesday, the Indian Armed Forces launched Operation Sindoor. They targeted and struck nine terror launch pads in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) to avenge the Pahalgam terrorist attack on April 22. The attack had killed more than 26 people and left many others injured. Post the operation, however, Pakistan tried to attack India again, but the Indian army gave a proper answer to the attacks. A ceasefire between to two rival countries was then announced.

Another one of the films that faced a ban in Indian was the Pakistani actor Fawad Khan and Bollywood actress Vaani Kapoor starrer Abir Gulaal. Earlier scheduled for a release on May 9, the Aarti S. Bagdi directorial was postponed indefinitely. Apart from this, social media handles of Pakistani celebrities were banned from working in India. With it banned in the country, even their appearances on their Bollywood film posters were also deleted.
