The anticipation surrounding Love & War has left the internet buzzing with excitement. Sanjay Leela Bhansali left the fans excited when he announced the project last year. According to the media reports, the shooting of the Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal starrer is currently on its last leg of shooting, which is taking place in Mumbai’s Film City. While details about the movie have been kept tightly under the wraps, reports started doing rounds on social media stating that the film will be releasing on Independence Day 2026.
Now an exclusive report by News18 states that the makers of the magnum opus are planning to release the film before August, next year. Quoting an industry source, they mentioned that SLB is eyeing for a solo release in June next year. June 5, 2026 to be exact. The source went on to add, “Slated exactly a week after the IPL finale and coinciding with summer holidays, the date offers a prime launchpad for a big-ticket spectacle like Love And War. With no immediate box-office clutter and a high footfall period, this could be a strategic move to maximise the film’s reach.”

If they do finalise the said date, the makers of the SLB directorial will successfully avert a clash with Varun Dhawan’s Bhediya 2 and Kartik Aaryan’s Naagzilla. It was earlier reported that the movie’s production might face a clash due a delay in shooting some crucial scenes. However, the report was dismissed as “baseless,” stating that it was very much on track.
It is to be noted that Love & War will mark the reunion between Ranbir and SLB after 17 years. For those who don’t remember, Bhasali launched Kapoor in Bollywood alongside Sonam Kapoor, with the film Saawariya. While Alia has worked with Sanjay Leela Bhasali for the movie Gangubai Kathiawadi, the upcoming film will mark Vicky and Bhansali’s first collaboration.

The film also sees Alia and Vicky’s collaboration after eight years, as they were last seen in Meghna Gulzar’s Raazi. On the other hand, having worked together in Sanju, Ranbir last made a cameo in Vicky’s film Govinda Naam Mera. Whereas Ranbir and Alia will be seen on the big screen again after their last outing Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva.
Talking about the upcoming film, details about the upcoming Sanjay Leela Bhansali directorial have been tightly kept under the wraps. However, it is being reported that the film is set against the backdrop of war where Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal will be seen essaying the roles of Indian Army officers. On the other hand, Alia Bhatt is said to be playing the role of a cabaret dancer.
