Bollywood actor Aamir Khan is all set to bring to the screens his much-anticipated film Sitaare Zameen Par. Set to release on June 20, the actor, along with the rest of the cast, is busy promoting the film. In a recent interview, he opened up about his short height and how he felt intimidated because of the height of all the senior actors before him. While referring to a scene in the trailer of the film, where his character’s mother takes a jibe at his height by calling him a “tingu,” he was asked if his status in Bollywood allows him to take jokes about his appearance without feeling insecure
Opening up about the same, during an interview with Just Too Filmy, the 60-year-old actor recalled a comment made by Javed Akhtar, which he wholeheartedly agrees with. Khan said, “He said a good sense of humour is not just for fun and games, but it actually comes in handy when you’re going through difficulties in life. So if you have a good sense of humour at that time, it’s like a shock absorber. I think I’ve always had that ability, and it’s a very important part of the film.”

The actor takes a trip down memory lane and reveals that when he was beginning his career as an actor, he was afraid because of his short height. He even mentioned that he felt intimidated by the height of senior actors like Amitabh Bachchan, Shatrughan Sinha, Vinod Khanna, and others.
Quoted by News18, he added, “At the beginning of my career, I was very afraid. Amit ji was number one, and he was over six feet tall. Vinod ji, Shatrughan Sinha—all were very tall. So I was nervous, thinking choti height ke actor ki kuch daal galegi ki nahi galegi. I was very concerned about that. But as it turned out, it was fine.”

On the work front, Aamir Khan will be next seen in the R.S. Prasanna directorial Sitaare Zameen Par. The slice-of-life sports drama is said to be a spiritual sequel to his 2007 film Taare Zameen Par. The film marks the debut of 10 specially-abled actors – Aroush Datta, Gopi Krishna Varma, Samvit Desai, Vedant Sharma, Ayush Bhansali, Ashish Pendse, Rishi Shahani, Rishabh Jain, Naman Mishra, and Simran Mangeshkar. The film, which also co-stars Genelia Deshmukh, will release on the big screens on June 20, 2025.
